Payphones

Payphones were reintroduced in 1988 as a major means of expanding public access to telephone services.  It had an average annual growth of 70%.  The Payphone Services Unit of Ghana Telecom, since 2003, had ensured that targets for the provision and maintenance of payphones had been met and exceeded.

In recent years, the sudden passion for the use of mobile phones by customers, have prompted Ghana Telecom to re-strategise the payphone service.  Currently, payphones are being moved to the senior high schools where students are not allowed to use mobile phones, rural and sub–urban areas.

You can find a bank of GT payphones outside all our regional offices, and in convenient locations in major towns and cities around the country.
